Card skimming occurs when a device, referred to as a ‘skimmer’, is attached to an ATM or point of sale terminal (like a gas pump) with the intention of stealing card information. The stolen information is then used to create fraudulent cards in order to make purchases and withdrawals from compromised accounts.
